From Ulster to Queensland, Nigel Dalton’s biggest lesson was learning forgiveness
Nigel Dalton has served with the Queensland Police Service for almost two decades, but it was his time in the force during the bloody Northern Ireland conflict that shaped the officer he is today.
From 1983 to 1989, Sergeant Dalton served with the Royal Ulster Constabulary, now the Northern Irish Police Force.
He watched friends and colleagues die during one of the most tumultuous and violent periods in Northern Ireland’s history.
The biggest lesson he learnt, however, was about forgiveness.
That is what he brings to his job on the other side of the world in Mackay, North Queensland.
