Reigning premiers given big Dusty headache
Melbourne has announced itself as a legitimate premiership threat after manhandling reigning premiers Richmond in thrilling fashion on ANZAC Day eve.
Richmond came out of the gates on fire, leading 15-0 early, before a scintillating Melbourne onslaught led to the Demons winning 12. 10. (82) to 6. 12. (48) at the MCG.
The win gave Melbourne its first 6-0 start since the 1965 season, and was led by a dominant midfield showing which saw the Demons tally 447 disposals to Richmond’s 353.
