“Mortal Kombat” and animated feature “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” are reportedly competing hard to win the box office this weekend.
Funimation’s release of ‘Slayer’, based on the anime series, pulled in $9.5 million on Friday – neck and neck with “Mortal Kombat” which grossed $9 million with both on track for openings in the $20 million range each.
“Mortal Kombat” is screening in nearly twice as many locations as “Demon Slayer,” but also boasts an R-rating which could limit its potential audience…
