Victoria records no new coronavirus cases after testing of Perth flight passengers

More than half of the passengers who were on board a flight from Perth to Melbourne with a COVID-positive man have tested negative, Victoria’s health department says.
Key points:
- Victoria has recorded 58 consecutive days with no locally acquired coronavirus infections
- Out of 42 recent arrivals in Victoria who attended WA exposure sites, 32 have tested negative
- Members of an AFL team who have returned from Perth have been granted permission to leave their homes for training and medical reasons
Out of 241 “passengers of interest” on Flight QF778 Wednesday, 135 have returned negative tests.
All passengers had been contacted and contact tracing work was continuing, the health department said in its latest Chief Health Officer’s update.
