The big supermarket chains, Coles, Woolworths and Aldi have placed limits on the number of face masks people can buy after a surge in demand.
The restrictions apply in Melbourne, where facemasks have been made mandatory from 11.59pm on Wednesday amid an outbreak of coronavirus.
Aldi will only allow customers to purchase two packs of face masks at a time and Woolworths has limited shoppers to just one packet.
