AFL crowds are down about 20 per cent on this time in 2019 but the Anzac weekend games could begin to boost that figure and restore confidence to fans to attend matches.
Barriers that are stopping people flocking to games in usual numbers include having to book seats, rather than just roll up on the day, and members not being able to sit in their allocated reserved seat, plus additional QR code scanning. The AFL and MCC also say there is some lingering concern about large gatherings among the community.
