Passion reignites in WA footy fans after delicate derby dance – The Age
The ill-feeling simmering off the field between rival Derby fans was non-existent, a sentiment echoed on the main stage of Optus Stadium as a sell-out crowd of mostly parochial home Fremantle fans welcomed the WA clubs back to the $1.8 billion stadium.
Milestone man Josh Kennedy, 32, playing game 250, starred throughout. He ended the game with 4.2 and won almost every other contest, enough to earn him the Glendinning-Allan Medal for best afield in the derby, an astonishing achievement, with Yeo, Sheppard, Docker Luke Ryan and Kelly rounding out the top five.
‘Thank you to everyone in WA for doing their bit so we can have crowds, cheers,” Kennedy said at the medal presentation on the ground after the game.
