A pressing deadline and a last-minute rush have stoked the nation’s ‘gangbusters’ housing market. Sales have soared in one state in particular.
New home sales surged almost 40 per cent in the March quarter compared to the same period last year while Aussies rushed to snap up reduced HomeBuilder grants in the final days of the scheme.
Housing Industry Association data released on Monday also showed the detached residential property market in South Australia was the most red-hot, with sales in the first three months of this calendar year rocketing 90.6 per cent compared to the same time frame in 2020.
