Macquarie, APA Group and Cheung Kong Group are also among the seven parties shortlisted in the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s $70 million “green” hydrogen funding round.
LNG exporter Woodside said in May it was looking to trial technology to help reduce the cost of renewables-based hydrogen and was working with partners in Japan and South Korea in the expectation that a large-scale hydrogen production industry would develop by 2030.
Cheung Kong’s Australian arm is looking to build a hydrogen plant in the south-eastern states to feed the gas into a state gas distribution system.
