New South Wales coach Brad Fittler has come to Latrell Mitchell’s defence after the Rabbitohs fullback was heavily criticised for lashing out at Wests Tigers forward Luke Garner on Saturday night.
After brilliantly escaping from the in-goal area, Mitchell took off downfield in the final 20 minutes of the closely contested match at Stadium Australia.
He was eventually bought down by Garner just short of the halfway line, before getting an offload away.
