SA irrigators welcome projected water allocations but plead for better carryover policy

South Australian irrigators say they are pleased with the projected high opening water allocation of 82 per cent for the 2021-22 water year, but are frustrated to lose their carryover water.
Key points:
- SA’s 2021-2022 water allocation is 82 per cent
- Irrigators are frustrated to lose their water volumes from carryover
- Opening allocations will be announced on June 15
The minimum water allocation figure, released today by the state government, gives irrigators an indication of how much of their water entitlement they can use.
Minister for Environment and Water David Speirs said the projected opening allocations were encouraging news for irrigators and business confidence.
