How important are election promises?
Promises abound in any election campaign and, so far, Tasmania’s state election campaign has been no different.
Both major parties have been out and about, promising funding for all manner of projects, in health, housing, and education.
So much so, that the major parties are now accusing each other of committing to over-spending.
If you think there’s been overkill, you’re not imagining it. Tasmanian political analyst Kevin Bonham said both sides were running a “spending splurge” style of campaign.
“There’s not as much penalty for promising to spend money.”
