Highway closed after pedestrian hit by car

Emergency services were called to the incident at Carrara at 10.48pm Saturday after reports that a pedestrian had been seriously injured. The 21-year-old female was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with pelvic and elbow injuries, according to a spokesman from Queensland Ambulance Service. Police were diverting traffic away and are asking motorists to avoid the Pacific Highway and find an alternative route. The road was reopened about midnight.
