Brisbane City Council to face court fight over Boggo Road Gaol plans

Brisbane City Council will face an appeal of its decision to approve a controversial development slated for the site of the heritage-listed Boggo Road Gaol precinct.
Developer Stockwell first lodged the plans for the state-owned site in 2019, proposing a two-storey mixed-use office, healthcare and community space.
The appeal singled out the loss of one-quarter of the prison’s “strong physical presence” due to the development’s proximity to the eastern side.Credit:Stockwell
After requests for more detail, time or changes from both levels of government in relation to the project, revised in December, the $25 million project was approved in early March.
