The TJ Smith Stakes has quickly become one of Australia’s best races – first run in 1997 when run at Listed level and won by Mahogany.
It gained Group 1 status in 2005 and has been won by some of the greats including Black Caviar in 2011 and 2013, Chautauqua in 2015, 2016 and 2017, Lankan Rupee in 2015, Takeover Target in 2009 and Apache Cat in 2008.
