Fireworks thrown, charges laid after police confront 1000 people

“This type of behaviour is unacceptable, disrespectful and life-endangering and we will act to the full extent of the law to keep the community safe.”

Notices to appear were also issued to other people for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count each of evading, wilful damage, drink-driving, disqualified driving and two counts of drug driving.

Police seized three vehicles, which would be impounded for 90 days.

Police investigations were ongoing, with 93 traffic infringement notices issued for offences including defective vehicles, speeding and obstructing traffic.
