COVID-19 wastewater alert issued for residents in Sydney’s Inner West – 7NEWS.com.au
Fragments of COVID-19 have been detected in wastewater that receives samples from tens of thousands of residents.
Fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 have been detected in Sydneys sewage network, despite no new local cases of the virus.
The discovery was made at the treatment plant in Homebush from a sample taken on Wednesday.
NSW Health is not aware of any current positive cases in this area, but the catchment does include a quarantine facility, NSW Health said in a statement.
However, it also said no cases were identified in the facility up until the middle of March.
