A new Goldilocks black hole | Space – EarthSky
Astronomers have detected a
Intermediate-mass black holes, larger than the ones formed from individual stars – but smaller than the supermassive ones at the centers of galaxies – should theoretically exist. Now astronomers say they’ve found one by detecting a gamma-ray burst that was gravitationally lensed by the black hole. In this diagram, the gamma ray burst is depicted on the right.
