Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys has unveiled a radical new two-mile race that is set to rival the Melbourne Cup in the spring.

Racing NSW has introduced a radical new two-mile race that is set to clash with the Melbourne Cup in the spring.The Harbour Cup (3200m) will be held at Rosehill on October 30 – Golden Eagle day in Sydney, Derby day in Melbourne – and will carry a purse of $5 million.
The new staying event will be held just three days before the $7.75 million Melbourne Cup at Flemington in a move that has angered Racing Victoria officials.
