Will Day has suffered a fracture in his right ankle.
The emerging Hawthorn defender will consult a surgeon today and go under the knife later this week after hobbling off the MCG in Sundays loss to Richmond.
There had been speculation Days injury may have extended beyond the ankle. While that is not the case, the 19-year-old has a break in his ankle and faces an indefinite period on the sidelines.
