Australian Border Force and AFMA join forces to prevent illegal fishing in Australia’s Northern waters
On Saturday 27 March 2021, ABF Cutter (ABFC) Cape Leveque, operating under the direction of Maritime Border
Command (MBC), identified three Indonesian fishing vessels undertaking illegal activity in the vicinity of Cartier Island in Australia’s Exclusive Economic Zone.In collaboration with the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, the crew of ABFC Cape Leveque seized approximately 250kg of illegally caught sea cucumbers, associated fishing equipment, and one of the vessels in accordance with Australian fisheries law and the Maritime Powers Act.
