Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate apologises for racist ‘joke’ mocking Chinese people

Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate has apologised for a racist comment about Chinese people.

At a press conference in Townsville on Monday, Tate was discussing what the Gold Coast could learn from the north Queensland city about disaster management.

“How you are resilient and recover from that is what we want to learn,” he said.
