Calls for AFL to address ‘uncomfortable backdrop’ to Jordan De Goey’s stunning return – Fox Sports
Two long-time members of the football media, as well as Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd, have suggested the AFL should address why Jordan De Goey has been allowed to play for Collingwood while facing a serious police charge.
De Goey earlier this month was charged by Victoria Police with indecent assault from an alleged incident in 2015 an incident that was investigated by the AFL integrity unit in 2018.
A mandatory police station visit, which subsequently breached the AFLs COVID-19 protocols, sidelined him from the Magpies Round 6 win over Hawthorn. But he starred upon return on Thursday night, booting five goals in Collingwoods 22-point win over Geelong at Optus Stadium.
