Teenage girl allegedly sexually assaulted while walking home from school

A teenage girl was allegedly forced into bushland and sexually assaulted on Wednesday afternoon while she was walking home from school on Macleay Island, in Moreton Bay.
Police charged a 20-year-old Russell Island man over the alleged incident.
The girl had exited a bus near Hamilton Parade before the man allegedly started to walk in the same direction as her and a short time later began to follow her, police said.
After approaching the intersection of William and Arthur streets, police alleged the man forced her into bushland and sexually assaulted her.
When she regained consciousness, the girl resisted the man, who ran off in an unknown direction, police said.
The girl, who did not know her alleged attacker, was helped by a resident.
