Residents of Taree have returned to their homes after flood waters damaged many in the town

Some residents of the NSW town of Taree have started returning to clean what’s left of their properties damaged by flooding.

The Mid-North Coast town was inundated with water, with many forced to evacuate.

Residents are now returning to Taree to inspect the damage to their properties.

The ABC’s James Carmody was with many of them as they began the long process of cleaning up.

Many parts of the NSW coastline have experienced high rainfalls over the past week.

The Mid-North Coast has endured some of the worst flooding.
