Wild weather turns roads into rivers, with more rain to come

Wild weather lashed large swathes of south-east Queensland on Sunday flooding homes and roads, but the weather bureau has warned there’s more rain to come.

Backyards were turned into rivers as 113mm of rain were dumped on some Gold Coast suburbs in one hour.

Emergency flood warnings were issued for the Currumbin, Mudgeeraba and Tallebudgera catchments on Sunday afternoon, with Gold Coast City Council advising residents to consider moving to higher ground.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued flood warnings for the Nerang and Coomera rivers, as well as Tallebudgera, Currumbin and Mudgeeraba creeks.
