INTRODUCTION
Bone metastasis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with advanced breast cancer (1, 2). Nevertheless, therapeutic strategies to prevent bone metastasis are lacking, due, in part, to limited understanding of the mechanisms that enable breast cancer cells to seed and eventually develop secondary tumors in the skeleton.
