AFL to deliver verdict on concussion sub rule just days out from Round 1

The AFL is expected to confirm today whether it will introduce a concussion substitute for the 2021 season.
League chief Gillon McLachlan confirmed on Monday that the rule was being considered after a meeting with coaches last week, where four-time premiership mastermind Alastair Clarkson raised the idea.
The rule would see a 23rd squad member named as a concussion substitute and only permitted into the match if a teammate is deemed unfit to return to play.
