All investitures had been postponed due to the global pandemic, but the royals are making an exception for Captain Tom.
Early on in the coronavirus pandemic, the royal family postponed investitures as a safety precaution. This week though, they’re making an exception for Captain Tom Moore, a former British Army officer, who raised more than $37 million for UK health workers in the lead up to his 100th birthday.
Queen Elizabeth will confer the honor of knighthood on Moore in a ceremony on Friday, July 17 at Windsor Castle. His close family will accompany him to the event.
