There were 16,612 tests completed on Friday.
But authorities are urging anyone in Melbournes north-west with symptoms to get tested after wastewater fragments were detected.
The Department of Health said on Friday afternoon the fragments had been found in wastewater in Sunburys north-east and urged locals and recent visitors who have COVID-19 symptoms to get tested.
