Reusable nappy petition calls on Whitsunday council to help families afford them

More than one million nappies are estimated to be heading to landfill in the Whitsundays.
Key points:
But a North Queensland mother said that number could be significantly reduced if financial incentives to switch to reusable nappies were offered.
Chloe Wilson, who has two children under two, said for many parents the initial outlay for the modern cloth nappies (MCNs) was preventing people from using them.
“If you wanted to do full-time reusable, it would cost about $500 to get started with 25 nappies,” she said.
“It’s more than people factor in when they’ve already got the cost of prams, cots, and other items.”
