The big four’s earnings and trading updates have convinced JPMorgan that every major bank is now in “capital management territory”, forecasting $3 billion to $9 billion in improved shareholder returns by way of higher dividends from each bank.
Its forecasts apply to the financial years 2020-21 to 2022-23.
With APRA’s 10.5 per cent minimum capital level in mind, the big four are all hitting 12 to 13 per cent common equity tier one ratios on a pro-forma basis, and that allows dividend payout ratios…
