Perth gets AFL thumbs-up as true colours return to Optus Stadium – The Age
It’s been a while between drinks, but Optus Stadium will finally flick the switch on its AFL season when two Victorian clubs clash on Thursday evening.
The high praise for Perth came before AFL boss Gil McLachlan’s signal on Thursday an ongoing WA hub would be required to complete the final 11 rounds of the regular season over next nine weeks ahead of a finals series and grand final on October 24 away from the MCG.
Geelong enjoyed its first week west at a Crown Resort hub, within a kick of Optus Stadium. Cats coach Chris Scott said his players had craved more time together.
