Jessica Watson’s round-world yacht voyage to become a Netflix film – Sydney Morning Herald
The Gold Coast-raised sailor was just 16 when she completed a solo voyage around the world in 2010. The journey to a feature film has taken much longer.
Netflix will make a feature film about Jessica Watson, who at 16 became the youngest person ever to sail around the world solo and unassisted when she cruised into Sydney Harbour in May 2010, 210 days after she had departed.
The film will be written and directed by Australian Sarah Spillane, and produced for the streaming giant by Sydney-based Sunstar Entertainment, a talent management company that counts Watson among its major clients. The company which also had a hand in bringing Saroo Brierl…
