MSI’s Z490 Motherboards Get PCIe 4.0 Support for Intel’s Rocket Lake Via BIOS Update – PCMag AU
To demonstrate the capability, MSI released an image showing a Z490-A Pro motherboard using the faster PCIe 4.0 on a Samsung SSD 980 Pro NVMe drive.

MSI is unlocking PCI Express 4.0 support on its Z490 motherboards for owners who decide to upgrade to Intels upcoming Rocket Lake CPUs.
The PCIe 4.0 support on the older Z490 motherboards will arrive via a BIOS update, which can be downloaded from MSIs website.
Through an update to the latest BIOS, MSI Z490 motherboards offer great bandwidth and performance for PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSDs and graphics cards, the vendor said today.
