End to COVID pandemic unlikely this year, according to World Health Organisation – 7NEWS.com.au
A senior WHO official says it’s ‘unrealistic’ to think COVID will be over by the end of the year – but there is still cause for hope.

A senior World Health Organisation official said Monday it was premature and unrealistic to think the pandemic might be stopped by the end of the year.
But Michael Ryan, director of WHOs emergencies program, said the recent arrival of effective vaccines could at least help dramatically reduce hospitalisations and death.
The worlds singular focus right now should be to keep the transmission of COVID-19 as low as possible, Ryan said.
If were smart, we can finish with the hospitalisations and the deaths…
