Highlanders CEO Roger Clark says discussions have been taking place since the middle of last year but they have stiff competition for the halfback.
The Highlanders are trying to sellFolau Fakatava a vision of making the All Blacks while learning under Aaron Smith but admit other Super Rugby clubs are chasing him.
