Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features a satellite view of Japan at night. The lights clustered in the top of the photo represent the Greater Tokyo area. Home to more than 30 million people, Tokyo is the most densely populated metropolitan area in the world.
Tokyo uses substantially less energy compared to other megacities as a result of better energy efficiency and conservation that has been adopted over the past decade.
