Residents of almost a dozen suburbs in Melbournes west are being urged to be on high alert for signs of COVID-19.
A weak detection of fragments of the virus found last Monday was confirmed by lab testing on Saturday, the Department of Health said.
The catchment includes samples from Taylors Hill, Plumpton, Hillside, Sydenham, Delahey, Caroline Springs, Burnside Heights, Kings Park, Albanvale, Burnside and Deer Park.
