The nation’s biggest retailer offering immunizations — a booster shot to U.S. efforts with more than 20 pharmacy chains.

The bid to inoculate the country against a virus that has killed nearly 509,000 Americans is picking up, with Walmart expanding its role in a federal program that has the nation’s biggest retailer offering vaccinations at more than 1,400 pharmacies in 35 states.
The retailer also is partnering with local community leaders and nonprofit groups to reach more vulnerable populations and holding vaccine events at 43 locations across 18 states, including drive-thru spots in Walmart parking lots.
