Brisbane 2011 flood victims win $440 million in class action partial settlement over operation of Wivenhoe Dam
Victims of the Wivenhoe Dam flood disaster have won $440 million in compensation from the Queensland Government and Sunwater in a partial settlement.
More than 6,500 residents won the landmark class action last year after Queensland water authorities were found to have breached their duty of care over the 2011 floods.
In a statement to the ASX, litigation funder Omni Bridgeway said state-owned dam operator Seqwater is appealing and has not yet settled its remaining 50 per cent share of the settlement.
More to come.
