Depression, alcohol and crystal meth: Gay Australian Olympic great opens up on incredible journey – Fox Sports
Former Australian Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham has opened up on his difficult path to his historic gold medal in Beijing in an emotional interview with BBC.

Mitcham in 2008 came out as gay in the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics, before becoming the first openly gay man to win individual Olympic gold with a stunning, record-setting victory on the penultimate day of the Games.
That was a highlight of an incredible career that saw Mitcham battle mental health issues, drug and alcohol addiction, and self harm.
Now 32, Mitcham is happily married and has been clean for five years.
