There is definitely a surge in children presenting with RSV across the entire healthcare system, Dr Cubbit said.
In other words, there are clearly a large number of sick kids needing acute care at the moment.
Murdoch Childrens Research Institute respiratory physician Danielle Wurzel said while NSW and Western Australia experienced significant surges of RSV in the latter half of last year, Victorias prolonged COVID-19 lockdown meant it may not have experienced its peak of cases yet.
