Tiger Woods is awake, responsive and recovering in hospital after a serious crash near Los Angeles, his team says.
The golfing icon, 45, wrecked his SUV after rolling it several times from a highway and ending up in shrubs just after 7am local time.
Woods was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery to repair injuries to his right leg and ankle.
