Man charged after massive Woolloongabba water damage in apartment block
On Saturday afternoon the lift wells at the Vicinity Apartments still have “almost five feet of water”, building manager John Cronin said.
Mr Cronin, who had been at the apartment complex cleaning the water damage since 2.30am, said a man who has been charged by detectives was friends with people in a unit on level 6.
“Last night he [allegedly] took 11 fire extinguishers from the floors. They were retrieved from his father’s car,” Mr Cronin said.
“And then he [allegedly] turned on the fire hydrants on level 6 and level 7 and flooded the place.
“It’s hundreds of thousands of dollars damage.
“The lifts are still out because they are all still full of water. They still have to be pumped out and dried out.”
