Rugby league player remembered as ‘amazing bloke’ after dying on field
“QRL has received a detailed report, with witnesses confirming there was no evidence in the tackle of a head or neck injury, nor any report of foul play.”
Sports trainers performed CPR on Mr Best before paramedics arrived.
“Paramedics attempted to stabilise the player, who was subsequently taken to hospital where, sadly, he was later reported as deceased,” the statement said.
“The QRL and rugby league community send their most sincere condolences to Best’s family and friends, as well as the Maroochydore club.
“The QRL will continue to assist the club through this difficult time and is providing wellbeing support.”
