Southern hairy-nosed wombats reclaim the Nullarbor
The southern hairy-nosed wombat might just have the perfect personality for life on the Nullarbor.

- The Nullarbor’s southern hairy-nosed wombat populations were decimated by rabbits in the 19th century
- They are now bouncing back, with healthy populations found as far west as Caiguna
- Over the next decade they may reach further west still, to Balladonia
Known for being “extremely funny” and “tough as nails” in equal measure, the once struggling species is now thriving in the vast, arid landscape.
