Gun jockey Luke Currie toasted the sweetest of Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes wins on Saturday, exactly 12 months after watching the marquee Caulfield meeting from a hospital bed.
Currie was sidelined for seven months last year after a horror fall at The Valley left him with spinal fractures and broken ribs on the eve.
Currie, who resumed race riding last September, made amends in fine style on Saturday, partnering the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained Artorius to a breathtaking Blue Diamond victory.
