But the state’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, can grant exemptions from the hotel quarantine, and Dr Young says an exemption was granted to Ms Minogue and her son.
I believe Ive given 38 such exemptions to date for mandatory hotel quarantine. But they need to then quarantine in a place that I am satisfied adheres to the same requirements, Dr Young said on Tuesday.

[Ms Minogue] has a COVID-safe plan that is being managed by an independent third party. Thats the reason she got that exemption.
The states Liberal National Party opposition slammed the decision in state Parliament on Tuesday, claiming it showed the government was granting one rule for celebrities and one rule for everyone else.
“No ordinary member of the public would have been granted an exemption like this by the Palaszczuk government,” LNP health spokeswoman Ros Bates said.
“Restrictions need public support to be effective, which is why Labors double standards are so damaging.”
Dr Young said because Ms Minogue had a COVID-safe plan managed by a third party and because she was managing all the costs of her quarantine, she was allowed to stay in private accommodation, believed to be Ms Minogue’s own residence on the Gold Coast.
The Chief Health Officer said people in the film and TV industry, as well as a number of other groups including consular officials, ADF personnel, and oil and gas industry workers had also been allowed to avoid mandatory hotel quarantine.
But she stressed they still needed to spend two weeks isolated at a place approved by her to ensure they did not show any symptoms of COVID-19.
Ms Minogue is reportedly set to be a guest host on a singing TV program due to film episodes in Queensland in the near future.
Queensland recorded no new cases of the virus on Tuesday, leaving the state with 1071 total confirmed cases, four of which are active.
