Residents cleared out of homes as Sunnybank siege nears 10th hour

“We’re prepared to deal with the situation as long as it takes to ensure the safety of the community and anyone inside that house, and of course our officers,” Inspector Ackery said.
The exclusion zone initially included the Banoon railway station but was later narrowed to a section of Dyson Avenue and Keats Street to the south-east, between the rail line and Beenleigh Road. Residents had been urged to follow the advice of emergency services, and members of the public urged to stay away.
By 7pm, a Queensland police spokesman said the incident remain ongoing and those within the exclusion zone were expected to have been evacuated throughout the day.
